Refik Anadol Living Architecture: Casa Batlló

MAY 7, 2022, AND MAY 5, 2023, CASA BATLLÓ, BARCELONA

Living Architecture: Casa Batlló is an innovative generative NFT that combines environmental data and artificial intelligence to create a work in constant evolution.

By integrating real-time data, the piece’s visual effects change, capturing the dynamic essence of the world around us.

To complement the multisensory experience, a perfume, created by Firmenich using AI, evokes the spirit of Casa Batlló and the aromas of Barcelona.

This work was exhibited at Rockefeller Plaza in New York and later auctioned at Christie’s for 1.3 million dollars. 10% of the proceeds went to neurodiversity initiatives such as autism, ADHD, and dyslexia, causes central to Casa Batlló’s mission.

"Living Architecture Casa Batlló" was also projected onto the iconic façade of Casa Batlló, where it awakened the magic of the building, captivating over 125,000 spectators during live projections in May 2022 and May 2023.

—The building responded to the master who created and designed it. It wasn’t like a mapping project. I felt that the building was alive.
