About Casa Batlló Contemporary

Casa Batlló Contemporary is the Casa Batlló artistic program that connects Antoni Gaudí's legacy with contemporary artists, technologies, and languages through exhibitions, mapping, interventions, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Expanding Gaudí's Radical Legacy

We look at Gaudí in his most innovative, creative and groundbreaking form, exploring his relevance to artists past, present and future. Casa Batlló marks a defining moment of invention and radical rupture — one that reaches backwards and forwards, into the work of those who share his refusal of convention and his commitment to the new.

Presenting Cutting-Edge Artists

We work with the most innovative artists of our time — practitioners who break moulds, cross boundaries and open new areas of thought and exploration. The work we present is cutting-edge not as a style but as a condition: restless, rigorous, and committed to what has not yet been done.

Blurring Art, Architecture & Technology

As Gaudí blurred the lines between artist, engineer, artisan and architect, we seek artists whose practice moves across disciplines and worlds, blending them into coherent and expansive works. We look beyond labels, beyond positioning, beyond the describable — drawn to those whose work resists reduction and whose vision refuses a single name. People willing to be undescribable.

Inspiring Intergenerational Dialogue

Curation here moves across time without hierarchy. We trace Gaudí's influence across generations — outward and forward — finding the dialogues and connections that keep the work alive. Past, present and future meet on equal terms: a continuous field where nothing is fixed and everything remains in conversation.

Casa Batlló Contemporary
Books

The book Gaudí – Miró – Gomis: Deconstructed expands the exhibition’s universe and delves deeper into the creative dialogue between Antoni Gaudí, Joan Miró, and Joaquim Gomis. The publication explores the connections between their works and perspectives, incorporating Tomorrow Bureau’s contemporary reinterpretation and offering a new perspective on this intersection of art, architecture, and photography.

Furthermore, for the first time, Casa Batlló is publishing a book that showcases the vision of Casa Batlló Contemporary. Written by Francesca Gavin and designed by Pony Studio (London), the publication explores the dialogue between Gaudí and the contemporary practices of Refik Anadol, Sofia Crespo, Quayola, and UVA, spanning digital art and artificial intelligence to sound and moving images.
