Casa Batlló Contemporary is an annual artistic program that connects Gaudí's radical legacy with the most innovative creators of today, extending to a new exhibition space on the 2nd floor of Casa Batlló, with two temporary exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge works.
+PAST AND FUTURE
Inaugurated in 2022 with the acclaimed work by Refik Anadol, "Living Architecture: Casa Batlló", the Mapping has become a landmark of public art, attracting over 100,000 spectators every February and millions more online. Each edition commissions a prominent contemporary artist to transform Gaudí's façade into a cutting-edge audiovisual performance.
In 2026, the program expands with the opening of a dedicated gallery on the second floor, carefully restored by the Barcelona-based studio Mesura. This new space will host two annual exhibitions: a winter season, alongside the **Mapping** artist, which expands Barcelona’s cultural agenda during the low season; and a summer season that highlights the dialogues between art and architecture inspired by Gaudí.
Beyond exhibitions and projections, **Casa Batlló Contemporary** becomes a platform for innovative conversations between artists, curators, architects, and innovators. These dialogues, both inside and outside the house, foster interdisciplinary exchange, playful experimentation, and visionary collaborations.
As a living and constantly evolving entity, the program will continue to grow over time, adapting and expanding in dialogue with the artistic community and the world around it. Rooted in Gaudí’s philosophy of experimentation and curiosity, it celebrates his universal value while offering today’s creators the freedom to project their spirit into the future, honoring the past and shaping the future.
